Journey into shadow.

A film short (4 minutes) about traveling back to my hometown in Indiana after 30 years. I went back to visit my neighborhood, my house, and to find out more about a violent home invasion that occurred there when I was 12 years old. This clip is the beginning of a film I am making loosely based around this incident. The original music is by Garry Transue, played on instruments he made by hand.

Circumstances which frightened a child.

I made this film with the intention of uncovering an old family secret that had been living in my memory since the early 1970's. A terrifying home invasion that we were not allowed to talk about. The attack upon my younger sister. The trial. The affects the incident had on my parents, my siblings, and myself. The reminder of the invasion was persistent throughout my childhood and into adulthood, and would not leave my memory. So I decided to make a documentary film about it. As it turns out the memories were also stuck in my family member's minds as well. I traveled back to my hometown of West Lafayette, Indiana to research and gather footage of the location where this occurred. I interviewed each member of my family. I learned the basics of editing on Final Cut, and made this movie. It is the biggest single accomplishment of my life so far. Thank you for letting me share it with you. I means so much to me.
